New Year New No-Shave!

[Providence, RI, November 1, 2023] — No-Shave November has been growing its reputation since 2009 and has earned its place amongst the most notable fundraising campaigns benefiting cancer research. This year No-Shave November returns to the fold with a fresh new look. Alongside friends like The National LGBT Cancer Network, we will surely achieve a decisive victory against cancer.

The National LGBT Cancer Network works to improve the lives of LGBT cancer survivors and those at risk by:

  • EDUCATING the LGBT community about our increased cancer risks and the importance of screening and early detection;
  • TRAINING health care providers to offer more culturally competent, safe, and welcoming care; and
  • ADVOCATING for LGBT survivors in mainstream cancer organizations, the media, and research.

As we all know, cancer is a formidable opponent that can wreak havoc even at its earliest stages. Fighting it requires teamwork and tremendous effort. As one of this year’s benefiting foundations, The National LGBT Cancer Network aims to:

  • Raise Awareness: Our primary goal for No Shave November is to raise awareness about cancer prevention, education, and research. We want to encourage participants to embrace their hair growth and start conversations about the impact of cancer on individuals and families.
  • Enhance Resources for Inclusive Cancer Care: Our goal for No Shave November is to raise funds that will contribute to developing resources and programs focused on promoting inclusivity in cancer care for the LGBTQ+ community. By securing the necessary financial support, we can expand our initiatives to train healthcare providers, develop educational materials, and create accessible support networks for LGBTQ+ individuals facing cancer.

“We are overjoyed to be back and working with so many exceptional organizations,” said Monica Hill, Matthew Hill Foundation, Inc. President and Co-Founder. “Our goal has always been to spread awareness about cancer with an emphasis on research and prevention. Growing alongside this year’s benefiting partners helps us cultivate that awareness and spread our hairy mission to others. Our campaign’s exciting new look signals that No-Shave November is for everyone and that we can’t wait to welcome any new No-Shavers to our ongoing fight against cancer.”

“Once again, we are delighted to participate in No Shave November. This initiative transcends just growing facial and body hair; it’s a powerful avenue for raising awareness, fostering support, and advancing inclusive care. By coming together as a community, we can make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer, and that’s what makes this endeavor so important.” – Chelbye McIntyre, Deputy Director of the National LGBT Cancer Network.

For the month of November, The National LGBT Cancer Network is asking you to rally your team and get downright hairy! So don’t hesitate to donate today. Remember, every follicle counts!
